This is an exact reproduction of the 69-72 tach - the 68 is also very close except the face is dark steel gray-blue, not Jet Black - they are hard to tell apart unless you have them side by side. This looks great on any Pontiac.
This is one of the best options Pontiac ever had and is easy to install. Drill the hole in the hood and plug it into the existing wiring harness. This kit comes with the tach, wiring harness, and the important instructions that locate the hole in the hood and tell you how to install it. This has the correct metal orange needle and on the bottom has the correct decal. This is the best tach on the market. It can be used with later HEI Systems or distributors or Protronix systems.Â
New factory hood tach now available from Inline tube. Made in the USA just like the original GM. Also included are the factory harness and installation instructions. Will also accept factory heater vacuum hose to tach. You can see the pointer light up at night.
A few quality points with our tach:
A) Has the correct shape outer shell with the hard edge (just like factory originals)
B) The meter is the same as the factory so it will fit in the factory hole - unlike others where the hole in the hood has to be bigger.
C) Comes with correct mounting nuts and -Tach decal on the bottom
D) Has a metal face (not plastic)
E) Has a clear glass lens (not plastic that will discolor or scratch)
F) Top and bottom are screwed together like factory (not silicone glued together like the competitors)
G) 100% like original in fit and finish
H) Made in the USA with all-new parts
This tach has the important hose nipple - the heater vacuum hose to tach came out in 1970 due to GM having problems with the tach fogging up. GM's fix was to connect a vacuum hose to the bottom of the tach to the heater box on the firewall. What this allowed was to keep warm air blowing into the tach at all times. The biggest problem was they built up condensation inside the tach, causing the movement to fail. This tach will work with factory GM points or factory HEI. It may need a tach adapter when using this on MSD or after-market ignition.Â
